A varied program on diversity took place over two days. Day 1 on 22 May 2024 was dedicated to the topic "Language Connects" and Day 2 on 23 May 2024 focused on "Women Empowering STEM".

Representatives from all status groups at the University of Bonn took part in the "Family friendliness" workshop to discuss various facets, their own perspectives and ideas for potential changes at the University of Bonn in the area of "Family friendliness" using the World Café method in different constellations. As a preliminary conclusion, it can be said that the university can already offer some support, but that some of this needs to be better and more widely advertised so that it can be utilised by university members with care responsibilities and offers relief during their studies or at work.

Representatives from all status groups at the University of Bonn used the World Café method at the "Protection from Discrimination" workshop to analyse and jointly reflect on discrimination characteristics and risks at a structural and institutional level.
Impressions of the workshop discussion "Educational equity"
The workshop on educational equity was attended by representatives of all status groups of the University of Bonn. Using the World Café method, they discussed four questions dealing with educational equity. The focal areas included 1) Arriving and Onboarding, 2) Scholarship and Financing, 3) Study and PhD Doubts and 4) the situation of First Generation Academics. At a fifth table, these four questions were discussed in English to be able to gather the perspectives and ideas of international university members.

Participation in funding initiative ‘Diversity at German universities’
The University of Bonn has successfully applied for funding as part of the ‘Diversity at German Universities’ (Vielfalt an deutschen Hochschulen) initiative. The initiative is implemented by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). One of its aims is to support German universities in boosting visibility of diversity and promoting their own diversity strategies while encouraging the participation of all university members in the process. A total of 33 universities receive funding for diversity projects as part of the initiative.

The University of Bonn is now a member of a network of universities and institutions that are committed to diversity, a variety of perspectives and equal opportunities.
"Inclusion Guides" advise the University of Bonn on accessibility issues

Students develop an app in the "Location-Based Services" seminar
In the summer semester of 2022, the seminar "Location-Based Services" was offered at the University of Bonn in cooperation with the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Unit. The seminar was led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan-Henrik Haunert and Dr.-Ing. Youness Dehbi from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation. In the course of the module, the students developed an app that provides a navigable campus map with barrier-free paths as well as access points.

Diversity Days 2022
We celebrated Diversity Days together! On 31 May 2022, the nationwide Diversity Day, initiated by the Diversity Charter, took place for the 10th time. To mark this occasion, the University of Bonn organised the Diversity Days from 30 May to 1 June 2022. These three days were organised by the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Unit and the Vice Rectorate of the same name in cooperation with the Family Office.
