Laurenz Hammerschlag, who is also part of the Diversity Working Group, has been dealing with the topic of diversity in sports for some time and is also leading the creation of a reporting office for sexualised violence within university sports. Together with the Project Coordinator Inclusion and Participation Julia Lindenberg, the new buddy programme ‘GemeinsamAktiv’ has now been launched, which brings together students who want to support each other in doing sports in order to overcome possible obstacles. The programme can be used to attend inclusive university sports courses, but all other sports courses are also open to participants.
The programme is open to all students at the University of Bonn, with a particular focus on students with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Buddies are trained accordingly and also have the opportunity to acquire a sports trainer licence as part of the program. The buddy programme is based on the concept of learning in tandem and aims to create a supportive sports environment in which everyone can experience the positive effects of physical activity and social interaction.
