Female Visiting Professor Program

What is the purpose of this funding?

Through its Female Visiting Professor Program, the University of Bonn is working actively to support efforts to recruit top-notch international female academics for research and teaching visits and to enhance the university's international profile. Female researchers at the University of Bonn are supported in establishing and deepening strategic partnerships. The University of Bonn promotes the formation of networks of female academics and expert academic dialog across national borders.

What does the funding include?

The funding encompasses the financing of a visiting professorship (generally analog to W2/W3) including travel expenses (max. EUR 4,000). Beyond this, the female visiting professor will be provided with operating funds for equipment (max. EUR 10,000). The visiting professor will have access to the infrastructure (labs and workplaces, libraries, etc.) of the hosting faculty for research and instructional purposes. The funding is generally intended for one semester. Should two female professors together nominate an interdisciplinary candidate, then financing for two consecutive semesters is possible. The hiring requirements are laid out in §36 of the NRW Higher Education Act.
